About Us
Wellmind Biomed
Our company is composed of an award-winning team in whole exome sequencing of neurodevelopmental diseases, one of the top research teams in psychiatric research and psychiatric disease assessment, and a local leading team in autism assessment and intervention.
Our Vision
To become a leading innovative health care R&D company in Hong Kong and the greater China area.
Our Mission
To provide more affordable, efficient, personal, and remote intervention as early as possible to children afflicted with ASD, so as to significantly improve their quality of life. To provide more affordable, efficient, personal, and remote intervention as early as possible to children afflicted with ASD, so as to significantly improve their quality of life.
Our Services
Our Services
Our patented technology for screening ASD enables accurate prediction of ASD risk in children, so that intervention training could offer to them as early as possible.
Our screening tools include genome-wide association tests (GWAS), whole exome analysis, developmental assessments, and automated assessment system.

Professional Advisory Board
Prof. Stephen Kwok Wing TSUI
Director of the Hong Kong Bioinformatics Centre and the Centre for Microbial Genomics and Proteomics
TSUI Kwok-Wing Stephen is currently a professor and vice director (research) in the School of Biomedical Sciences, directors of the Hong Kong Bioinformatics Centre and the Centre for Microbial Genomics and Proteomics, and associate director of the CUHK-BGI Innovation Institute of Trans-omics in the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK).
In 1995, he received his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Biochemistry at CUHK and his PhD thesis is related to the decoding of the human genome.
He was then appointed as an Assistant Professor in the Biochemistry Department in 1997 and promoted to the full professorship in 2004.
He was a former member of the International HapMap Consortium working on the single nucleotide polymorphisms of human chromosome 3p.
He is very interested in bioinformatics, comparative genomics and molecular biology of clinical pathogens.
Prof. Hon Cheong SO
MBBS, PhD
Prof. SO Hon Cheong received his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree together with a PhD degree in 2012 from The University of Hong Kong (HKU).
His PhD research focused on statistical and psychiatric genomics. He has received numerous awards for his academic achievement, including the Croucher Foundation Scholarship and the Dr. Stephen K.P. Chang Gold Medal for the best PhD thesis in the Faculty of Medicine, HKU.
Prior to taking up the current academic post, he worked as a resident psychiatrist in Queen Mary Hospital and Castle Peak Hospital.
He joined the School of Biomedical Sciences of The Chinese University of Hong Kong as an Assistant Professor in Jan 2016 and is also currently assistant professor (by courtesy) of the Department of Psychiatry, CUHK.
His main research interests include the development and application of novel statistical and computational methodologies to “omics” and clinical data in general.
Prof. Vicky Kwan Lan TSANG
Occupational Therapist Registered, AOTA Certification Board, USA
Dr. Vicky Tsang is currently an associate professor (occupational therapy) in Tung Wah College.
She first graduated from Hong Kong Polytechnic with a professional diploma in Occupational Therapy.
Then she completed Advanced MA degree in Occupational Therapy with specialization in Developmental Disabilities in New York University, USA.
She received her PhD in Deakin University, Australia.
She is a registered occupational therapist, both in Hong Kong and USA.
She completed the internationally recognized certification courses in Sensory Integration and Praxis Test (SIPT), Neuro-developmental therapy (NDT) in Pediatrics, and, Conductive Education conferred by Pető Institute of Hungary. Dr. Tsang has had extensive work experience as a clinical practitioner in Hong Kong and USA for at least 15 years, and, as an academic professional in higher education for more than 15 years
Our Technology
Our Technology
Genetic Screening
The underlying aetiologies are diversified, ranging from genetic conditions to environmental conditions.
The 80% heritability rate of ASD suggested the necessity of genetic testing for ASD screening (Kristiina Tammimies et al., 2015).
With the advance of sequencing technology, massively parallel detection of variants is now possible, enable more accurate and earlier screening and identify recurrence risk in families.
Eye-tracking screening
Some early signs of ASD can be detected at 6 months of age.
People with ASD usually show reliable and constant gaze abnormalities, which helps in risk assessment (Thomas Frazier et al., 2017).
All-in-one system for ASD
Early diagnosis and intervention are crucial and helpful to give children the best chance of developing to their full potential (Lori-Ann R Sacrey et al., 2015).
Our company has developed an all-in-one system for parents of children suspected/afflicted with ASD to perform initial screening, follow up genetic testing, and intervention after screening.
Choice of Targets
Choice of Targets
Autism is a neurodevelopmental disorder that usually occurs before the age of 3. About 1 in 54 children has been identified with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) according to estimates from CDC’s Autism and Developmental Disabilities Monitoring Network (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2020).
The estimated number of ASD cases was 14,000,000 in China (The Chinese University of Hong Kong, 2013). In Hong Kong, there are an estimated 75,000 – 113,000 people with ASD (Autism Hong Kong, 2019).
